Coming from crowded cities in California, Mishima was a drastic change in scenery. The transition went smoothly with the help of the Buddy Program here at Nichidai. The buddies go out of their way to include exchange students in activities and always have a friendly face when they see you pass by. They also have many events to offer during the semester like the Welcome Party, drinks at izakaya and fireworks at Atami. Some of the buddies also take English classes. If you’re lucky, they might be in the same class as you. If you are interested in Japanese culture, the Japanese culture class lets exchange students participate in various Japanese arts like sado; tea ceremony and shodo; calligraphy all while wearing a yukata. I would encourage all exchange students to take advantage of all the events Nihon University has to offer. You will create many memories and lasting friendships.
